I secretly wish I'd made it for me, too! I never claimed finisshemont is a French word. Here is the definition reprinted from the I knit Therefore I Blog glossary.
finisshemont- 1. adj. exhibiting the quality of diverting attention from missing body parts. 2. adj. completion wherein the object de finisshemont stands in for an absent part. Examples: a. Wristwarmers de finisshemont camouflage the fact that the model lost a pinky finger at Woodstock. b. The photographer is employing a stole de finnishemont because of the model's missing right eyeball.
